Honors college alum, Donovan Vitale, a master's student working with Dr. Matt Reeves, has received a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.These highly competitive fellowships provide a stipend and tuition for up to three years to support the graduate education of “individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant research achievements in STEM or STEM Education,” according to the NSF website.This fellowship will allow Vitale to continue his work on PFAS cycling in wastewater treatment plants - work he began in his honors thesis - which has already received significant scientific and public attention.Vitale completed his undergraduate degree with the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences, published his honors thesis in a high-impact journal and was the department’s Presidential Scholar in 2023.
